      Articles About John Bisagno

      TWO ESSENTIAL INGREDIENTS

Dr. Bisagno regularly reminds young pastors that the two missing ingredients
in much of the preaching today are the apologetic and the application.

In 1986, the New Orleans Baptist Seminary allowed doctoral student Russell
      M. Barksdale the opportunity to set the precedent of writing his doctoral thesis
on the preaching of a “still living preacher.”

After analyzing more than 600 sermons by Dr. Bisagno, Barksdale concluded
that he is a genuine apologist for the great doctrines of the faith.

Bisagno’s new book Principle Preaching extols and demonstrates the power
and priority of application in preaching. “Too many sermons,” he writes, “leave
me with a great ‘Therefore, what?...’”

      RESPECTED BY MANY DENOMINATIONS

Dr. Bisagno has been honored by his own denomination as president of the
National Southern Baptist Pastors Conference and nominated by the Texas
Baptist Standard Paper as one of the 10 most influential Texas Baptists of the
Century in 2000. He has also been honored by his peers in many other
      denominations as well.

He has addressed the World Wide Divisional Directors for the Assemblies
of God Foreign Mission Board and has spoken at a commissioning service
of 120 new Assemblies of God missionaries in Springfield, Missouri.

In addition, Dr. Bisagno has been the Sunday morning guest preacher
in the largest Methodist, Presbyterian, Nazarene, C.M.A., and Episcopal
      churches in
Houston, Texas.
